When Susan’s youngest child was in her pre-school years Susan was inspired to start a Bible study for mothers of young children. She knew how demanding those early years can be and what spiritual resources were needed to sustain and encourage mothers when they were under those demands. She made the decision to host the group in her own home, with the little ones welcome, so that it was as easy as possible for mothers to attend.

Keitha joined the group when her daughter was two. Over the following five and a half years Keitha and Susan formed close bonds with not only the group, but with each other.

When Keitha felt God’s call to write Mothering Heights, she also felt called to ask Susan to join her on the adventure. Susan had been struggling with ill-health for a while and wasn’t fit to do much but lie on a couch, drink tea and talk, which made her the perfect candidate for co-authoring a book. Susan thought about it, prayed about it [didn’t dream it would involve such a nerve-wracking and on-going journey] and blithely said “Yes”…
